The Challenge
Tracy Otsuka, an ADHD coach and founder of the ADHD For Smart Ass Women podcast, became a New York Times Bestseller in January with her book published by HarperCollins.
She sought ways to promote her book and expand her mission, aiming to reach more women in need of guidance on managing ADHD, particularly those who couldn’t afford her services.
Our Process
Analysis
I reviewed her book chapter by chapter, extracting themes, quotes, and material that would stand out and be emphasized in her marketing. Then, I created a graphic to showcase these elements for her to reference.
She expressed a desire to target retirees or individuals seeking a career change. She also wanted to maintain a positive outlook on ADHD, as she felt competitors and other resources often portrayed this diagnosis as a negative quality in people's lives.
I incorporated this audience profile into the strategy and began looking for people who fit that description within her Facebook community. I also analyzed the questions they were asking to better understand their needs and concerns.
I asked Tracy Otsuka to share not only her book but also her other resources, courses, and emails. Each month, I provided specific themes and ideas for her to focus on, along with recommendations for free resources to highlight based on the monthly theme.
I helped create four video scripts for Tracy to perform, and for the other eight, I developed posts centered around the monthly themes.
These posts also directed people back to her previous episodes, leveraging her library of over 200 episodes.
For an author, capturing their tone of voice in posts is crucial. Through trial and error, I used ChatGPT, along with examples from her book and other resources, to effectively mimic her tone. She was very pleased with the results.
